
Why I start my mornings with tea!

My mornings start early, before sunrise. Why? Because I practice yoga. Getting up early to practice is something I cherish. It prepares me for the day and gives my life purpose and meaning. Or as someone cleverly said: "First I do my yoga" - then I do the things"!

My preparation for yoga is my 2-3 cups of tea. During my tea time (that lasts ca 40 minutes) I wake up slowly and gently, I meditate and do pranayama (breathing practices). Below are some benefits why starting your day with tea can be good for your wellness:

1. Energy Boost:
The caffeine in tea will help you awaken softly, without making you jittery.
2. Antioxidant Boost
Tea contains lots of antioxidants that contribute to fighting free radicals that are responsible for causing common health problems. So a few cups every morning can help you stay healthier!
3. Weight loss Boost
Green tea is known for helping increase your metabolism and to burn more fat during exercise.
4. Stress-free Boost:
Tea contain an amino acid called L-theanine that has a soothing and relaxing effect on the mind, very much like the effect you get when you are meditating.
5. Anti-inflammatory Boost
Tea contains tannins - which are known for their anti-inflammatory properties. A warm cup of tea can help soothe the stomach muscles, preventing cramping, loose stool, or other types of intestinal distress.
In the wintertime I prefer a darker oolong (not a smoky one) or a black tea. These teas belong to the fire element and they have a warming effect on the body. In spring a fine white tea works excellent (element water) and in the warm season a green tea or a light oolong helps cool the body and protect the heart (element wood).
